Hi, I’m Ellen. About 6 years ago, I started this blog for myself, to keep track of what I cooked when and what I tweaked on a recipe. I had also created CheapCooking.com to help people learn how to save money on their food.  For a long time I kept this blog on CheapCooking but lately I’ve found myself experimenting a lot more in the kitchen and it’s not all necessarily totally frugal–although always cheaper than going out!

I’m moved the blog over to its namesake URL here and will keep the old blog focused on frugal cooking.

I love reviewing new cookbooks!  No guarantee of a review, of course, but I would love to hear about new cookbooks and will usually be able to cook a few recipes and decide whether I can recommend the book or not. I always disclose in the review whether the book was given or purchased, as I do with various product reviews.
